Willard Middle School Welcomes Jake Furr

Willard Middle School recently welcomed sports reporter Jake Furr from the Mansfield News Journal to speak to the eighth graders about his career and experiences. He explained the basics of what he does at his job as well as the different parts of a newspaper. Furr said that even though he was raised and graduated in the small town of Plymouth, he still went on to pursue his dream. He began wanting to be a sports reporter at a young age and continued to gradually work towards his goal. He is now getting to do what he loves because he dedicated himself to his dream and achieved it.

It is important to commit to your long-term goals no matter what
negative obstacles may get in your way. Although you come from a small town, you still have the ability to pursue the career of your choice. The only thing stopping you and telling you how realistic your goal can be is your attitude and work ethic. Jake Furr taught us that our future does not rely on where we were raised or graduated, but on how hard we are willing to work for our goals.
