Parent Teacher Conferences

We asked a Willard Middle School teacher, Mr. Garrett, how he feels about parent teacher conferences and if he feels that they are necessary . We asked him a set of questions about how he feels about the conferences.
One question we asked him was how to determine if you need to have a conferences with the parent?" Mr. Garret replied "Any child that is struggling or needs extra help." I think that is a pretty good answer. He said it in a very nice way and didn't put down the children who need a little more help.
We then asked him how many conferences a year does he have on average. "20-30 conferences per year." He replied.
For our last question that we asked him, was "Overall, how do you feel about conferences?"  "It is a great way to help children." He replied.
A special thanks goes out to Mr. Garrett. He answered all of these questions honestly. We thank you for your honesty and commitment to helping the Flashes Times Junction.

Halloween Dance

October 31st there was a middle school halloween dance. The students were allowed to dress up. A majority of students believe this has been the most successful middle school dance so far. They provided snacks such as cookies, cupcakes and candy. The beverages were great, which included lemonade and punch. They had a series of musics and the decorations were extremely spooky. There was a haunted hallway which was loads of fun. They had different scenes and jump scares. A lot of people went into it and they received good feedback.

Seniors at Willard High School have an extremely important grade coming up quickly. While some of you may know, every year seniors have an overall project called ‘Senior Project’. Nice name right? Anywho, I was lucky enough to speak with a lovely young lady named Marnie Lillo. She taught me
All about her and her parteners, Kourtney Craft, project.
These two young ladies did not plan on working with each other but, their differences with one another made it conjoin to become one perfect project. Their project is called ‘WHO WE ARE’.  They’re using their different talents such as photography and public speaking to host an art show. This art show will be displayed at the Art Junction on November 17 & 18, 2017 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Art work will be for sale. All of the proceeds go to the Willard Hope Center.
The theme for this project is community. They chose this theme because they both respect our town. The art products have been inspired by the citizens attending the Hope center and local churches. One of these students are producing the photojournalism portion, while the other individual is hosting the artwork. The senior that is doing photojournalism will be taking the pictures of the students creating the artwork. Her pictures will also be displayed the same day the art show will take place.
The research on this project is vaguely intense. Their paper is commented on how art affects an individual's health and well being. The senior project is an amazing opportunity to do something you love and make it into something real. They use senior project to create a lifestyle for the students. These girls used this opportunity to make connections with the people in our community.

I hope all citizens that attend this event find it pleasurable and very helpful with our town. So please come join these two lovely ladies in their evening event. Do not forget. Come visit the Art Junction November 17 & 18, 2017 6:30-9:30 p.m. Have a great day and show your flashes spirit.
