Distinguished W Alumni Award by Mr. Hirschy

For over 100 years, Willard City Schools has helped produce civic and professional front runners in education, medicine, science, law, business, military, entertainment, art, literature and music. These former students have had a global impact, and our teachers have inspired many to follow in their footsteps. To honor and recognize these individuals, the Willard Student Council and the Willard Teen Leadership Corps have partnered with Willard City Schools to establish the Distinguished W Alumni Award.

The Willard Board of Education approved the creation of this award last school year, and nomination forms were available through August 31, 2018. Information was also shared through the WHS Alumni email.

The inaugural class of 2018 Distinguished W Award recipients include:
Tony Award Winner Randy Adams, Retired US Army Colonel Daniel Barnett, retired US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Bruce Durr, Sr., Willard City Manager Jim Ludban, Osman Hooper Award winner for news photography Jean Murray and Retired US Air Force Colonel and former Prisoner of War Richard Vogel.

These recipients will be recognized on Friday, September 28th at 5:30 in the Willard High School Auditeria.  The ceremony will be immediately followed by a small reception. The public is invited and you are all encouraged to attend. Distinguished W Award recipients will also be recognized at halftime of the  Homecoming football game with Sandusky St. Mary’s that evening.

Deadline for a new class of nominees will be sometime next spring, and you are all welcome to nominate those WHS Alumni who have gone on to do great things! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
